Hastelloy
Hastelloy X is a solid-solution-strengthened nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy that combines good oxidation resistance, high-temperature strength and exceptional stress-corrosion resistance which makes this alloy also interesting for petrochemical applications. Therefore, Hastelloy X was also the material selected for metal injection molded fuel nozzle applications (Fribourg & Castagne, 2014). Metal injection molded HX was also investigated by Wohlfromm et al. (2003) using a HX powder with particle size < 22 μm.
Via sintering at 1300°C for 3 h under hydrogen atmosphere a relative density of 97.8% could be achieved. An additional HIP treatment (1185°C/100 MPa/4 h) led to 100% densification. The tensile properties in the solution-annealed state were better than that of a cast alloy, but lower compared to wrought reference material.
